President's Report

Can you believe it is September already?

It is time to start planning for the winter and sign-up for trips before they sellout.

August came and went with a blur but not without significant happenings in the Club.  Skiers Night Out in August was the largest attended in who knows how many years.  SNO was at Utica Square’s 5th Night and there had to be over 1,000 people there.  This has got to be a sign of big things to come and a huge ski season.  In addition to the largely attended SNO, your Winter Trip VP Garry Cook made the final plans for the exciting group of trips and found the best trip captains around.  Dana Gray spent countless hours working on the Website so you can sign-up on-line.  These two deserve your thanks when you see them for all they do for the Tulsa Ski Club.  I want to thank the Tulsa Ski Club Board for all their efforts that are significantly under appreciated.

Sunday the 10th is out annual sign-up picnic at LaFortune Park Clubhouse.  I hope you are one of the smart people who take advantage of the EARLY BIRD sign-up and save major coinage.  You can sign up at before the picnic or at the picnic but don’t be one of those silly people who call on the 11th and ask can I still get the early bird pricing?  The answer will be, did you sign-up before 3 PM on the 10th?  You didn’t, then no.  It wouldn’t be fair to those who did.

Let us now take a minute to review all the advantages to signing up early:

  1. You save money
  2. You ensure your spot
  3. You receive priority seating on the bus
  4. You are being considerate to the trip captain who has many things to do you don’t see or appreciate
  5. You can pay for your trip in multiple payments which could help the budget without cutting into Christmas spending
  6. You can begin budgeting early so you don’t get to January and wish you had money to go skiing
  7. You can request time off work now and give your employer time to plan around your trip
  8. You have time to meet other people going on your trip or trips
  9. You have something to look forward to over the next few months
  10. You have time to get in shape which makes skiing more fun and reduces injuries

Now lets us review the reasons to wait:

0. I got nothing.  I am a planner.  It makes life less stressful.

I hope to see your smiling face on the 10th but if I don’t, I hope you have signed up at

Michael Messimore
