President's Report

WOW. January was a great month for the Tulsa Ski Club.

The club is growing and all the trips are full.

Good times were had at the General Meeting as we played games and ate tacos.

We took over Middleton’s for Skiers Night Out (SNO) and good times were had.

Next the club went to Snowmass for Flatlands Ski Week.  We started strong on Thursday with a dominating performance by our Snowshoe Teams.  Great job Andrea Adams, Cody Straight, and Donnie Williams.  How many gold’s has this team won?  You left the other clubs in your dust.

Friday was the downhill where we had outstanding participation and several medals.  Tulsa is by far the best club for cheering and encouraging racers not only from our club but all clubs.  This makes me proud.  In downhill skiing, we had six women medal and three men medal.  Look for the trip report in March for the list of winners.

Saturday brought the snowboard races where we won the women’s bronze.

With 30 men’s snowboarders, they had four age brackets. Tulsa’s men snowboarders won two gold medals, silver and a bronze.  We had 10 of the 30 men’s snowboarders, which helped the club gain a lot of points.

We came up just short on the team competition finishing second to Kansas City.  We wish them congratulations and pledge to come back stronger at Steamboat in 2019.  If you are or you know, an 80-year-old female skier, a 17-20 year old skier, or a 21-29 year old skier, bring them to Steamboat and help us bring home the gold.

Thank you Even Elsberry for leading a great trip and for all your hard work.

Thank you Evan for allowing all of us to be part of your Mountain Top Tribute to the Great Gene Elsberry.

Thank you Katie Roberts for helping Evan every step of the way.

Thank you Dana Gray for all the behind the scenes work that gets us to the mountain.

Now we are off to Angel Fire for an awesome President’s Weekend Trip.  The trip report is to follow in the March Lift Line.  You won’t want to miss it.

See you at the General Meeting.

See you at Angel Fire.

See you at SNO.

Thank you to everyone who joined us at Flatlands Ski Association 2018 in Snowmass, CO. Tulsa put in a great showing and brought home second place! We couldn't have done it without everyone's participation. Once again we were the team with the best spirit!  Congratulations to everyone who won NASTAR and FSA medals! Our snowshoe teams did a spectacular job outrunning the competition. Next year we'll bring home the title.
